Blair precollege students take top prizes at Nashville Symphony Curb Concerto Competition

Blair School of Music precollege violin student Mary Grace Johnson won the Nashville Symphony Curb Concerto Competition on March 3, 2013, in the final round of three performers.

Johnson will perform the first movement of Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto, Op. 14, with the Nashville Symphony and Curb Youth Symphony at the free Side-by-Side concert in May at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Johnson is a student of Christian Teal.

Another Blair School precollege student, cellist Mary Grace Bender, took third place in the competition. Bender is a student of Felix Wang.

Johnson and Bender will both receive cash prizes and tickets to Nashville Symphony concerts.
