Concerto Competition winners announced

The results of the concerto competitions have been posted. Forty-eight students competed — the most ever — and the finals were held Jan. 19. The judges were very impressed by the performances, and the finals were a nice showcase for the school and students.

The competition was judged by Jennifer Coleman, voice, Belmont University; Ching-Yi Lin, violin, Western Kentucky University; Sin-Hsing Tsai, piano, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga; and Patrick Walle, horn, Nashville Symphony.

The winner of the Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition perform as featured soloist with the Vanderbilt Wind Ensemble on February 21, and the three winners of the Symphony Concerto Competition will be featured soloists with the Vanderbilt University Orchestra on April 11.

Congratulations to all the winners!
