Choral Offerings at Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt Symphonic Choir - MUSE 1020 [1.0 credit]
Director: Tucker Biddlecombe

Meeting Times (Fall '17): 4:10-5:30 p.m. T/Th in Choral Hall (Blair)

Open by audition to all Vanderbilt students (both music and non-music majors), this choral ensemble performs choral music of all genres, and combines with the orchestra to perform major choral works each year. This ensemble fulfills ensemble credit for students majoring or minoring in music, and is open to non-majors who meet prerequisite standards of music reading, vocal quality and choral experience. Symphonic Choir will have a slightly different format in 2017, spending more time separated primarily studying men's and women's choral literature, though we will still rehearse and perform SATB literature. Auditions for Symphonic Choir are completed during the first week of fall classes.

Vanderbilt Chorale - MUSE 2120 [1.0 credit]
Director: Tucker Biddlecombe

Meeting Times (Fall '17): 3:20-4:30 p.m. MWF in Choral Hall (Blair)

Open by audition to all Vanderbilt students (both music and non-music majors), this select 36-40 voice choir performs music in a variety of styles, and forms the core of the Vanderbilt Symphonic Choir. This ensemble performs multiple formal concerts per semester. High levels of musicianship, preparation, and vocal flexibility are required.

Blair Jazz Choir - MUSE 1330 [1.0 credit]
Director: Christina Watson, Ryan Middagh

Meeting Times: 5:30-6:40 p.m. MW in Rm. 2190 (Blair)

Open by audition to all Vanderbilt students; ensemble is limited to 12 voices, plus rhythm section. Repertoire includes scat, contemporary, and standard jazz. On and off-campus performances throughout the semester.

Vanderbilt Concert Choir

Meeting Times: 4:30-6 p.m MW in Music Rehearsal Hall (Adjacent to Stadium)

Founded in 1895, the Concert Choir is the oldest performing arts group on campus and the keepers of the Alma Mater. The Vanderbilt University Concert Choir has a rich tradition of making beautiful music together and traveling on an annual spring tour to cities that have included New Orleans, Orlando, Chicago, and Washington D.C. Consisting of undergraduate students from all schools within the university, the Concert Choir is known for great music and a family-like atmosphere. Vanderbilt Community Chorus

Meeting Times: 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Choral Hall (Blair)

The mission of the Vanderbilt Community Chorus is to foster and share the art of choral music, as well as to serve our community, through the pursuit of choral excellence in choral repertoire and performance. Student-led Choral Ensembles 

These student-directed ensembles are open to Vanderbilt students by audition, and contribute to the varied student life atmosphere of the Vanderbilt campus. Whether you're interested in an all-male a cappella group such as The Melodores, a co-ed a cappella group such as Variations, or a worship experience with the gospel choir Voices of Praise, there is a choral group on campus for you.
