Blair students win at MTNA national competition

The 2016-17 MTNA National Competition was held March 17-20 in Baltimore, Md. To compete at nationals, musicians have already won their state and regional divisions. Several Blair School musicians competed, and brought home national honors:

Mary Grace Johnson, violin, took first place in the strings category of the Young Artist Performance competition. Johnson is a senior violin performance major with minors in viola and baroque violin. She studies with Cornelia Heard.

The Claudius Quartet came in third place in the strings category of the Chamber Music competition. Ensemble members are sophomore Eliza Wong, a violin performance major, and freshmen Hesoo Cha, violin performance major, Rachel Haber, viola performance major, and Meghan Leong, cello performance major. They are coached by Cornelia Heard.

The Music Teachers National Association has close to 22,000 members in all 50 states, and more than 500 local chapters.
