A combination of precollege, collegiate, and alumni singers and musicians performed John Rutter’s “Mass of the Children” on March 16 at the Blair School of Music 50th Anniversary Gala Concert.

The Blair String Quartet played two movements from Beethoven's Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 130.

 

The Blair Woodwind Quintet performed the Allegro vivace from Endre Szervanszky’s Quintet No. 1 for Winds.

 

Nolan Harvel, with his mentor, Associate Professor of Guitar John Johns, played Carulli's Rondo in G Major, Op. 34, No. 2.

 

Precollege and collegiate alumnus Sean William Calhoun, BMus’14, wrote a chamber piece, "Divertimento," played at the March gala by a quartet consisting of Calhoun on piano and three other Blair precollege alumni: rising Blair senior Collin Lewis, clarinet, rising Blair junior Nathan Lowry, violin, and Wesley Skinner, cello, a current master’s student at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

 

Vanderbilt’s Symphonic Choir and members of the Blair Children’s Chorus along with the Vanderbilt University Orchestra performed Director Tucker Biddlecombe’s “Reminiscence.”

A reception in the lobby after the performance continued the festivities in grand style. Other concerts celebrating Blair’s 50th anniversary will continue through 2015.
