Over the past few years, the Blair School of Music has launched an innovative chamber music-based ensemble curriculum.
With more than two-dozen instrumental chamber ensembles in place, students acquire listening and collaborative techniques that impact their overall musical development. Their experiences participating in both large and small ensembles complement each other by developing skills that enhance the students' growth in all of their musical experiences.
On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week, 2:20-5:20 p.m. is reserved for chamber music and large instrumental ensembles rehearsals.
Each chamber group, which is formed either through the recommendation of faculty or by the students themselves, meets for rehearsals and coaching from 2:20-3:10 p.m. The chamber ensembles perform at least once each semester in Turner Recital Hall, or in other performances off campus.
Chamber music coaches include Amy Dorfman, Jared Hauser, Peter Kolkay, Melissa Rose, Brian Utley, Cornelia Heard, Carolyn Huebl, Stephen Miahky, Christina McGann, Kathryn Plummer, Dan Reinker, and Ji Hye Jung.
