The Vanderbilt Chorale, under the direction of Tucker Biddlecombe, associate professor of choral activities and choral director, embarked on a tour of Florida in March. This newly formed ensemble serves as the core of the Vanderbilt Symphonic Choir and is made up of two-thirds Blair music majors, and one-third non-music majors from various schools at Vanderbilt. The chorale performed concerts in Tallahassee, Orlando, and Lakeland and participated in collaborative choral workshops with significant high school choral programs in the state.
After the tour concluded, a group of students in the five-year Bachelor of Music/Master of Education program extended their trip by traveling to Jacksonville to attend the southern division convention of the American Choral Directors Association. There, the students attended workshops on choral music given by experts in the field, made future professional connections, and attended performances by some of the finest choirs in the Southeast.
