Michael Kurek, associate professor of composition at the Blair School, has joined the roster of PARMA Recordings artists. PARMA will release its first album of Kurek’s works for chamber and large ensembles in 2017.
The New Hampshire-based PARMA specializes in orchestral, chamber, choral and commercial recording, as well as distribution, product design, strategic marketing and licensing/publishing. Other PARMA artists include Grammy winner Richard Stoltzman, Pulitzer winner Lewis Spratlan, guitarist Pete Townshend of The Who, percussionist Steve Gadd, and New York Philharmonic concertmaster Glenn Dicterow.
Kurek was Distinguished Composer in Residence at the III Encontro Internacional de Cordas international music festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in July 2016. He is currently working on a musical, scenes from which will be premiered in New York in January 2017.
