On February 2, the Schmidt Vocal Competition will be held at the Blair School. The prestigious singing competition is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school and awards cash prizes to more than 150 students annually.
The one-day competition is held annually in 16 locations around the country. Students perform in fromnt of a live audience in two rounds and participate in master classes between the preliminary and final rounds. Winners receive $2,500 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,500 for third place. Competitors in their junior or senior year who place in the top three are also eligible for a matching scholarship to continue their music education at Vanderbilt.
