Vanderbilt University Orchestra closes season with Bartók

The Vanderbilt University Orchestra, under conductor Robin Fountain, winds down its Spring 2021 concert season with a prerecorded performance of Béla Bartók’s “Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, Sz. 10.”

This iconic masterpiece of the 20th century is scored for double string orchestra, piano (often in a solo role, played here by student Catharine Jackson), celesta, percussion and harp. It was recorded in Ingram Hall, in accordance with university COVID-19 safety protocols.

The performance takes place at 8 p.m. April 23, and can be viewed via the live-streaming portal of the Vanderbilt Blair website.
