Tyler Nelson, Associate Professor of Voice, recently performed with The Atlanta Opera in their production of the 1956 Leonard Bernstein operetta, Candide, at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. Playing the role of Cacambo, Nelson was heralded by Broadway World as “one of America’s most promising young tenors” in their preview of the Atlanta staging.
“This was one of the most enjoyable productions I’ve ever been in,” said Nelson. Atlanta Opera treats their artists so well and this cast was just a dream. Grammy Award nominees, world-famous singers and actors, an excellent artistic team and a fabulous orchestra. We had so much fun putting this together and laughed way too much in the process, if that’s possible. The audiences were receptive and gracious. Such a fantastic opportunity.”
