Jeremy Wilson, Assoc. Professor of Trombone, is currently leading a group of Blair students on an unforgettable trip to Vienna, Austria. Wilson was formerly a member of the famed Vienna Philharmonic. Their week includes seeing several live performances and participating in masterclass sessions.
Today’s update from Jeremy Wilson:
On Sunday, several students listened to a Vienna Philharmonic concert, and another group saw a performance in the Vienna State Opera. Monday we explored the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens (the emperor’s Summer residence) for the first part of the day, then took a train to Linz to hear a wonderful brass ensemble concert by a group called PhilBlech Wien, a group made up mostly of Philharmonic members. Tuesday was a day to explore the city and today (Wednesday) we will do a masterclass swap at the University for the Performing Arts in Vienna. I will work with the Vienna students and Philharmonic principal trombonist Dietmar Küblböck will work with the Vanderbilt students.
