🌐 Blair Around the World: The Vanderbilt Community Chorus performs concert tour in Italy

The Vanderbilt Community Chorus, a program of Blair Academy, recently embarked on its second European trip with a concert tour of Italy. Over 12 days, the 35 participants, led by David Binns Williams, toured Rome, Florence, Pisa, Padua, Venice, and Verona with performances featuring repertoire from their recent spring program entitled “Tapestry: Common Threads Woven through Song.” Concerts included Rome’s Chisa di Santa Maria in Portico in Campitelli, the Basilica di Santo Spirito in Florence, St. Anthony’s Basilica in Padua, and the Chisa della Pieta (“Vivaldi’s Church”) in Venice. The concert theme of inclusivity and social justice was well-received by enthusiastic audiences throughout the country.

Formed in 2000, the Vanderbilt Community Chorus has been actively performing and advancing choral artistry ever since. The group is composed of singers from all over the greater Nashville community and is known for showcasing music from a wide variety of styles, both classical and contemporary. The ensemble’s first international tour took the singers to Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic in 2017.
