The Vanderbilt Wind Symphony kicks off a three-day tour on Monday, February 24, with an 8:00 p.m. Ingram Hall performance. The ensemble will present a preview of its upcoming appearance at the prestigious American Bandmasters Association National Convention in Chattanooga. Conducted by Thomas Verrier, the diverse program of wind band repertoire features Blair faculty soloists Ji Hye Jung, Lee Vinson, Brian Utley, and Derek Hartman, as well as a slate of distinguished guest conductors from throughout the United States.
On Tuesday, the ensemble travels to Tullahoma, Tenn., to perform for students at Tullahoma High School, before continuing on to Chattanooga for its featured ABA Convention program on Wednesday, February 26.
Founded in 1929, the American Bandmasters Association is the premiere North American organization dedicated to promoting concert band music and conductors. The current membership comprises approximately 300 band conductors and composers in the USA and Canada, and 80 associate members.
