Blair School of Music presents a Master Series performance by Grammy-winning flutist Molly Barth

Blair School of Music is excited to present “Together We,” a Master Series event, Sunday, September 14, 2:30 p.m., in Turner Recital Hall. (Reserve tickets) Featuring Grammy-winning flutist Molly Barth, the expansive program was conceived as “an exploration of community, human spirit, and compassion” and is an outgrowth of Barth receiving a prestigious Chancellor Faculty Fellowship, enabling her to partner with inspirational colleagues worldwide in presenting concerts that showcase a thriving sense of humanity expressed through the arts.

“The Chancellor Faculty Fellowship has enabled me to curate an ambitious and holistic event encompassing music, visual art, poetry, photography, videography, dance, and food art, created by extremely inspirational artists who are living in Nashville,” said Barth. “My collaborators and I are very grateful to have this opportunity to be on stage together for this celebratory event.”

The “Together We” program brings together acclaimed creators from a variety of sensory areas for an imaginative celebration of art in various forms. Barth will be joined by Blair faculty Felix Wang (cello) and Heather Conner (piano) to perform powerful and theatrical works by George Crumb, Olivier Messiaen, and Sofia Gubaidulina. Her solo flute performances of Claude Debussy and Toru Takemitsu will unfold alongside collaborations with dancer Amanda Reichert and poets Aaron Conley and Minton Sparks.

To further add to the sensory experience, visual artist Lain York will create art on stage during the event, a video of Molly Barth produced by Continuous Motion Productions will receive its debut showing at the recital and photographers Aaron Conley, Vesna Pavolovic, and LeXander Bryant will have works on display that have inspired Barth.  Keshia Hay will end the event with a display of food art that will be shared with patrons.
