The award-winning Blair Big Band welcomes guest artist Sean Jones to Vanderbilt for a special collaborative concert event, Thursday, November 6 in Ingram Hall. A Grammy-winning musician, composer and educator, Jones is one of the most respected trumpeters of our time and has performed with a long list of superstar artists.
A celebrated musician, composer, educator and activist, Sean Jones was prominently featured on the Grammy Award-winning album Turned to Blue by Nancy Wilson, and as a bandleader he has released eight acclaimed albums. Jones performs with his own groups both nationally and internationally, performing at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Monterey Jazz Festival, Detroit International Jazz Festival and Montreal International Jazz Festival.

About the Blair Big Band:
Directed by Ryan Middagh, the Blair Big Band performs a diverse repertoire that includes classic big band standards, modern jazz compositions, and original works by its members. One of the premier collegiate jazz ensembles in the country, the Big Band was named a Best of Nashville winner by the Nashville Scene and the ensemble has been honored with 14 DownBeat Magazine Student Music Awards. The band was a top-four finalist at the prestigious 2023 Jack Rudin Jazz Championship in New York.
