Bethany Merritt

Adjunct Instructor of Jazz Voice

Bethany Merritt is a jazz vocalist and educator based in Nashville. She is currently on faculty at Belmont University and the Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music. She has also taught at Lipscomb University, Nashville State Community College and Ensworth High School.

In May of 2017, Merritt completed her Masters of Music in Jazz Performance as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado, where she studied with Kerry Marsh and Julia Dollison. As a back-up vocalist, Merritt has shared the stage with Sara Bareilles, The New York Voices, Hans Zimmer, Ben Folds, Josh Groban, the National Symphony Orchestra and Aubrey Logan. While earning her Bachelor’s in Commercial Music with an emphasis in Performance from Belmont University, Merritt worked on Mackinac Island, Mich., as the vocalist at the Grand Hotel, where she fronted the Grand Hotel Jazz Orchestra.

Merritt can frequently be seen performing with her quartet at Nashville’s premiere jazz venues, such as Rudy’s Jazz Room and the Nashville Jazz Workshop, and as the featured vocalist of the Ryan Middagh Jazz Orchestra.
