Vanderbilt Blair School of Music is excited to announce the 2025 Adult Chamber Music Institute, July 31 to August 3, an immersive classical music experience exclusively for adults. String players of all levels are invited to join us for four days of music-making led by the world-class resident faculty of the Blair School. The daily program will include plenary sessions on technique, coaching and chamber group rehearsals, concerts, and times to relax and enjoy making new friends in music.

String musicians of all skill levels are welcome and enrollment is open to persons 18 years and older. Groups will be formed based on background and experience.

Registration opens Monday, May 5, 2025. Apply early; space is limited!

Blair School of Music is located at 2400 Blakemore Avenue in Nashville, on the campus of Vanderbilt University. 

Schedule

  • 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Thursday through Sunday
  • The final concert will be Sunday, August 3, 2:00 p.m.

Coaches

Stephen Miahky, violin
Associate Professor of Violin; Institute Director

Garnering acclaim around the world for his performances as a recitalist and chamber musician, Stephen Miahky is the Joseph Joachim Professor of Violin and first violin of the Blair String Quartet. A native of Akron, Ohio, Miahky holds a D.M.A. from Rutgers Univ., and B.M. and M.M. from the Univ. of Michigan. Read more +

Jessica Blackwell
Artist Teacher of Violin

Serving on the faculty of Blair since 2009, Jessica Blackwell was also a tenured violinist with the Nashville Symphony for 13 years. She holds music degrees from Rice University and Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, and a graduate degree in mental health counseling from Northwestern University. Read more +

Christina McGann, violin and viola
Assistant Professor, Violin and Viola

An award-winning performer and educator, Christina McGann has performed as a soloist at the Kennedy Center and appeared with orchestras around the world. In addition to her chamber engagements, she is concertmaster of the Nashville Opera. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in violin performance from The Juilliard School. Read more +

Kirsten Greer, cello
Senior Artist Teacher of Suzuki Cello

A member of the Atlantic Ensemble touring chamber group and a Blair instructor since 2005, Kirsten Greer is an avid performer of new and commissioned works, with world premieres throughout the U.S. and Europe. She holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of South Carolina. Read more +
