Soprano Ah Young Hong returns to Blair for residency, Oct. 4-6

Marvelous and versatile soprano Ah Young Hong made her Blair School performance debut in October 2015, performing Michael Hersch’s monodrama On the Threshold of Winter. This fall she returns for a weeklong residency at Blair, including two performances and a master class. All events take place in Steve and Judy Turner Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.

8 p.m. Wednesday, October 4
Hong and pianist Mark Wait present an evening of works for voice and piano that will include songs by Samuel Barber, Alban Berg and Hugo Wolf.

1 p.m. Thursday, October 5
Hong conducts a master class with Blair’s voice majors. Participation in the class is limited to Blair students by audition, but the public is welcome to attend and observe.

8 p.m. Friday, October 6
Hong will be accompanied by an assortment of Blair musicians including violinist Carolyn Huebl, cellist Felix Wang and pianist Mark Wait in an evening of works for voice and mixed instrumental accompaniment. The program will feature works by György Kurtág, Dmitri Shostakovich, and the regional premiere of a new work by Michael Hersch, rake forth the embers.
