Kolyo Vanchev is a versatile audio engineer and producer with a background in studio, location, broadcast, and live event production. His popular music activity includes working on recordings for Emily West, Edgar Emilio, Laurel Taylor, and Ryshon Jones, among others, and broadcasts for artists including Olivia O’Brien, Gryffin, Porter Robison, and Disclosure.
Also actively involved with classical and art music recording and production, Vanchev has worked on sessions and broadcasts for ensembles including the Nashville Chamber Music Society, Vienna Piano Trio, Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet, and Atlanta Chamber Music Collective. Vanchev’s work has been featured on BBC Radio 2, American Public Media’s Performance Today, Interlochen Public Radio, and WUGA’s On Stage/On Campus.
Vanchev holds a master of fine arts in recording arts and technologies from Middle Tennessee State University, where he was a graduate teaching assistant, instructing on recording studio techniques for undergraduate classes and overseeing sound reinforcement laboratory classes. While at MTSU, he frequently worked on recordings with the Commercial Songwriting Department, the School of Music, and the university’s label, Spring Fed Records. He holds a bachelor of arts in music with an interdisciplinary certificate in music business from the University of Georgia.
