Blair Alumni Profiles
Michael Rinne, '10, bassist
As a bassist, Rinne has recorded with artists such as Caitlin Rose, Jack White and Andrew Combs. He has toured with Steelism, Mark O’Connor and, most recently, Harris and Crowell.
You can also see Rinne in the newly released Hank Williams biopic I Saw The Light, backing up A-list actor Tom Hiddleston.
Miriam Sherk, '09, music therapist
Miriam’s story reminds us of the power music has to make a difference in people’s lives. We can use it to work through challenges and to connect to each other — concepts and skills Miriam says were instilled during her time as a Blair student.
Emily Nelson '10, cellist
From teaching cello lessons and playing with ensembles in the area to recording sessions and performances at events such as the Billboard Music Awards, Emily keeps a very busy, very musical schedule. Even though each day is different, her mindset remains consistent and focused. Talent aside, we thought her perspective was inspiring — we think you’ll agree!
Sarah Williams '06, teacher, pianist and singer-songwriter
As a piano teacher, performing pianist and singer-songwriter, Williams’ days are a balancing act between creativity, efficient practice and time management. We asked her how she does it all and how Blair helped prepare her for it — and, of course, any advice she might offer to aspiring music majors!
